Hiring · optional module

Interview the work,
not the résumé.

Chronos includes a complete work-sample hiring module. Send candidates a structured assessment built around the actual job. Get back scored submissions, integrity flags, and a kanban pipeline — no separate ATS required.

The problem we solve

Résumés don't predict performance. Work does.

Traditional hiring screens on pedigree — where you went to school, who you worked for. Research keeps confirming the better predictor is a slice of the actual job. Chronos gives every hiring team the tools to ask candidates to do the work, and score it consistently.

How a Chronos hire works

1

Pick an assessment

Start from a role template or build your own. Mix task types to cover what the job actually requires.

2

Send the invite

Upload a candidate list or share a public link. Candidates get an email; no account needed to start.

3

AI scores the work

Every submission is scored against your rubric with a written rationale. Integrity flags surface on the same view.

4

Move through pipeline

Drag candidates across kanban stages. Reviewers add private notes. Every decision is logged.

Seven submission types

Built to cover every role, not just engineering.

Chronos ships with seven task types because different jobs need different things. A marketing role doesn't need a code sandbox; a data engineer probably does. Mix and match per role template.

Code sandbox

In-browser Monaco editor with JavaScript, Python, SQL, and HTML/CSS runtimes. Auto-tested against expected output.

Email composer

Subject and body with automatic checks for spam triggers, call-to-action clarity, and tone.

Rich text task

Long-form writing with formatting. AI scores against a rubric you define and returns a written rationale.

Scenario tree

Multi-step branching decision task. Great for testing judgement in support, sales, and operations roles.

Video response

Webcam-recorded answer. Useful for communication-heavy roles — sales, exec, customer success.

File upload

Portfolio, report, deck, or design file. Reviewed by humans with a rubric and optional AI draft.

Structured form

Multi-prompt questionnaires for structured case studies or multi-part answers.

Role templates

Twenty-five ready-to-send assessments.

We've built out 25 role-specific assessment templates across twelve categories — engineering, data, marketing, sales, operations, finance, legal, design, product, support, content, and executive. Every template is a starting point you can edit, not a locked-in framework.

AI rubric scoring

Every submission, scored and explained.

Chronos uses Claude to evaluate subjective submissions — writing, emails, scenario choices — against the rubric you wrote. You get a numeric score per criterion and a written rationale reviewers can read in thirty seconds. Hiring managers stop rubber-stamping top-of-pile résumés.

  • Your rubric, your weights, your criteria — no hidden models
  • Score per criterion plus overall weighted score
  • Written rationale for every scored criterion
  • Human reviewer can override with audit trail
  • Re-scoring on rubric change with diff view
  • Calibration samples to align AI with your judgement

Integrity tracking

Catch the things you can't see on a résumé.

For remote assessments, Chronos tracks integrity signals in the background — tab blur, paste detection, webcam snapshots, approximate geolocation — and surfaces them on the reviewer view. Not to catch-and-reject, but to give reviewers the context they need.

  • Tab-switch detection with timestamp and count
  • Paste event detection on code and text tasks
  • Webcam snapshots at random intervals (candidate-consented)
  • Approximate geolocation from IP for fraud flags
  • Time-on-task recording for pacing analysis
  • Integrity score surfaced on the pipeline card
